Boston Arts Market
Allen Scott were commissioned by London Borough of Hounslow and the Greater London Authority on the feasibility for a new bespoke and innovative artist market in Boston Manor Park under the shelter of the M4 flyover.
The project includes extensive research into precedents, including research, site visits and studies of other markets such as Covent Gardens Market and successful pop up / mobile commercial activities.
The stalls are designed to be robust to withstand vandalism, whilst also being easy to adjust, assemble and disassemble. They are also adaptable to other uses when not in-use as a market, such as outdoor exhibitions and festivals, in order to make a positive contribution to the space. Additionally, the structures are manually movable at short notice - an essential design constraint to keep maintenance access for the M4 flyover.
