Crawter’s Brook is a new 3ha public park created from a flood storage basin that had become overgrown and virtually inaccessible. Now highly valued as one of the few public open spaces within the business district the park provides an attractive frontage to the main road as well as a natural oasis of bluebell woodland, hazel and alder coppice, naturalised attenuation basin with feature boardwalk promontaries. The signature park entrance is used for picnicking and a link for cyclists and walkers to follow the stream corridor to Rowley Wood SNCI north whilst a wide range of activities include youth and business volunteering activities, outdoor learning (insect hotels and habitat creations projects, monitoring wildlife and building and installing bird and bat boxes), and other forms of recreation such as jogging, dog walking and lunch time strolls.
