Recently awarded £3.5m of NLH Funding, Allen Scott are leading the renovation of the 23 hectare Victoria Park and Watercress Fields, Ashford's largest and most central municipal park. Although valued as an open space, the park was greatly underused and fell short of the role it should have played environmentally, socially and economically. Allen Scott's approach has been to unlock the built and natural heritage of the park with design proposals for the restoration of key designed landscape features, regaining clarity in the purpose of each space and the provision of remodeled or new facilities to provide multi-use community spaces supporting volunteering and events programmes, a new park café, children’s play and nursery, public toilets and maintenance compound. The park is expected to be fully completed by 2021.
