Battersea Park Cascades
Allen Scott prepared a restoration feasibility study for the historic Cascades in Battersea Park for Enable Leisure and Culture and Wandsworth Council. The study developed a conservation-led approach to restoring this important Pulhamite rockwork feature, originally constructed by James Pulham & Son in 1865-66 as a focal point to the boating lake within the Grade II* registered park.
The study assessed the historical significance and current condition of the Cascades and set out recommendations for their repair and restoration. Key proposals included the removal of later gunite, structural and surface repairs, reinstatement of the water feature, repairs to lighting and hard landscape, new planting, and improvements to access and interpretation. A phased delivery strategy and cost plan were also prepared to support future funding and implementation.
